The Quality Fitness Test is a
comprehensive self-assessment tool that includes a series of check sheets based on the
Canadian Quality Criteria. Easy to use, this seven-step workbook is completed by people
from different areas in your organization. It is designed to:
- Identify your organization’s
strengths and opportunities for improvement
- Lay the groundwork for your quality
improvement plan
- Give guidance on all aspects of
assessment
- Determine your readiness to apply for
the Manitoba Quality Awards or the Canada Awards for Excellence
Each step of the test includes a
"how to" section with Tips and Guidelines to ease your way through a complete
assessment. The steps are:
- Twenty-question warm-up: A mini-test
to help build consensus on the need for assessment.
- Set up a team: Assemble a team from
areas throughout the organization and choose a facilitator.
- Spread the word: The team explains
the purpose of the assessment and prepares staff.
- Prepare for action: Facilitator and
team sets the interview agenda, assigns roles and responsibilities.
- Assessment day: The team conducts
staff interviews.
- Check the stats: Pool and analyze
data, help assign assessment scores (optional).
- Plan for further action: Final report
and analysis of findings for development of an improvement plan.
