Canadian Healthy Workplace Criteria (first copy FREE)

This document helps readers to understand the principles and concepts surrounding the notion of workplace health. It is also an excellent starting point for organizations just beginning to explore workplace health and well-being. QNET, as a strategic partner of the NQI, distributes copies of the criteria in Manitoba.

The document is made up of three sections.

The Guiding Principles for a Healthy Workplace, which form the foundation of the criteria.
The five sections which make up the criteria. The first four sections address the "drivers" which are essential to developing and sustaining a healthy and supportive workplace, while the fifth section is designed to capture the results or efforts to improve workplace health and well-being.

Guidelines on the Elements of a Healthy Workplace – a sampling of programs employers might provide to enhance employee health and well-being.

Workplace health is viewed as a holistic concept that touches on many aspects of an organization and how it is managed. Successful workplace health and well-being programs are supported by senior management and form an integral part of the organization’s strategy. Comprehensive workplace health plans typically comprise a range of programs and activities related to three key elements: Physical Environment, Health Practices, and Social Environment & Personal Resources.
