The QNET Board Governance Criteria
is about the effectiveness of boards, board processes, board outcomes, board governance,
and other areas relevant to board work. It is not about organizational operations. The
QNET Board Governance Criteria is designed to enable not-for-profit boards to periodically
assess Board performance against a list of 23 Indicators. Each Indicator is drawn from
established Principles of effective board governance. These principles cover
Organizational Purpose, Client Focus, Responsibilities, Communication, and Accountability.
Boards can verify that they are meeting the overall criteria by showing Evidence of
effectiveness against the 23 Indicators. Each board is unique and will have varying levels
of evidence. QNET has two assessment tools to facilitate your board discussion of the QNET

your organizational performance. This concise tool applies to all organizations in their

Health - Self-Assessment Workbook
Based on the Canadian Healthy Workplace Criteria, this workbook was
designed to show you where you are and what you need to work on in regard to the
promotion, program development and implementation strategies for creating and sustaining a
healthy workplace. It lets you gauge your strengths and seize your opportunities for
improvement. It includes an outline of the assessment process, with recommendations and
tips on how to plan and carry out the assessment. This workbook has been produced by the
